Med Ed & Mentoring

Speaker Series

Our last NJC Med Education & Mentoring Speaker Series on Friday, March 15th at 2pm EST, 1pm CST, with Dr. Shamita Punjabi, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health discussed her group's “Development of a Multi-Site, Action-Based Curriculum for Inequities in Newborn Care Informed by Pediatric Resident and Community Engagement.”

Stanford Medicine is studying the implementation of an action-based, clinical Neonatal Health Equity Check-In that was informed by needs assessment of trainees rotating in the newborn setting. The check-in is a way to center equitable communication and anti-bias strategies actively in clinical care. This study is currently IRB approved and involves multiple institutions. If you're interested in joining the study and implementing this tool at your institution (within either neonatal or pediatric clinical settings), please contact Shamita Punjabi, MD at spunjabi@stanford.edu
